Amanda and Paul would like to welcome you to the website for the recently refurbished Prince of Wales in Merton, the best place in SW19 for a combination of real ale, sports, and now authentic Spanish style tapas, along with a traditional British pub menu. Outside, we have ample parking for up to 40 cars, and are within easy reach of the Northern Line (South Wimbledon) and Tramlink (Morden Road) systems, making us somewhere you can truly relax without having to worry about feeding the meter all night long.

Whether it's a good quick meal or snack you're looking for in your lunch break, or somewhere to take the family for an evening out serving authentic Spanish tapas dishes, we're the place to go. Our tapas menu truly caters for all tastes and sizes, with a wide ranging selection of seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes. If you're popping in at lunch time, then our daytime menu also has it's gems - dishes such as Pork & Leek sausages and mash, or Pork Chops in an apple and onion gravy are sure to whet your appetite, and send you back to work with a smile on your face and a content feeling in your tum. Our wine list features at least six wines by the glass, and a selection of Rioja's from a variety of producers. We can't wait until summer; with tapas, sangria and sun, we believe we've got the perfect combination of things to keep our customers happy and help make every night a fiesta.

Evenings are back with Fiesta spirit at the Princess of Wales

The Princess of Wales in Merton are pleased to announce that we will be working with acclaimed local chef, Stuart Canon who will be re-launching our evening service with an authentic tapas menu, along with a top quality bar snack menu, concentrating on affordable meals from 19th March 2010. As you might expect from such a major change, the wine list and bottle beer menus have been reviewed, and the addition of some premium products in to both ranges have been made, which together with the impending high value refurbishment which is scheduled for the Princess of Wales in the next couple of months make the prospect of dining out at the venue more of a reality than previously thought of. Stuart’s background is in the pub catering industry, working in kitchen management roles across the south of England and providing menus with a Mediterranean twist and customer-satisfying variety.

The changes at the Princess of Wales runs deeper than simply a change of chef, it’s a change of mind-set, change of methodology, and change in pace for the Princess of Wales, which has always served traditional “pub grub” in the most basic form. The inclusion of Stuart in the team brings with it a new way of working for our front of house team, with table service being the biggest change in a number of years; meaning that more staff will be on hand to service our diner’s needs and making sure people can relax in the 22 cover restaurant area without detracting from the traditional pub element of the remainder of the venue. With new crockery, cutlery and fresher than ever ingredients; along with tapas dishes starting from just £2.45, the Princess of Wales is aiming to set the bar higher than ever for locals and travelling customers alike.

The Princess of Wales can be found on the main road between Wimbledon and Morden opposite Big Yellow Storage, and until its refurbishment, will be a cream fronted detached building. The venue has parking for forty vehicles, and is a five minute walk from South Wimbledon tube station or Morden Road Tramlink.
